About Us

Our Booklaban Journey
The Booklaban podcast was born when two friends with a life-long obsession with books and reading were stuck in traffic on Edsa. We listen to a lot of reading and publishing podcasts but then realized that there was none that covered the local reading and publishing scene.

And before you ask, yes, there is a very active and thriving reading community in the Philippines, with book clubs, regular book sales, a bustling comics creator market, and foreign author meet-ups that draw the kinds of crowd that are normally associated with rockstars.

While reading is a solitary pleasure, we’re social beings at heart. Even the most hardcore introverts we know open up when talking about their favorite reads. And because meeting up is not always possible with the demands of normal life, we want Booklaban to be a virtual resource for Filipino readers everywhere.

So, listen to author interviews on the podcast, discover new titles and recommendations from fellow readers on our blog, or find bookish events and places you can attend on our events calendar and directory. And when you’re ready, dive in and share your favorites with a community that will welcome you with open arms.
