I’m an avid follower of Gary Janetti on Instagram, his narratives about Prince George are my daily dose of laughter. When his book “Do You Mind If I Cancel?” came out, I immediately asked my friend who was coming home from the US to get me a copy.

The book is about Gary, when he was starting out in New York working as a bellman and dreaming of becoming a soap opera star to the present. I could almost hear his voice talking about what annoys him, and how he fell in love. It’s hilarious because it’s so relatable.

JC Buendia once headed the Fashion and Design Council of the Philippines, as a two term president, of a group devoted to promoting Filipino fashion though fellowship, constant improvement and exposure to international competitions.

Early on in his career, he became known for tailoring but lately, he has become known for creating more streamlined and updated editions of the terno, the national dress of his beloved motherland. It isn’t that much of a departure. While tailoring is quintessentially masculine and terno is classically feminine, both require precision and perseverance, qualities that Buendia has in spades.
